So, Google has wonderful things. Yeah, Google. I know what you are thinking. But seriously, how does one go from seeing that list to incorporating those items into your classroom? Well, I say, start slowly. Begin with one tool, one application and then as you become more and more familiar with that one, spread and explore. Don't get overwhelmed.
I want to start you with GoogleDocs. Students I have been in contact with are virtually unaware of this tool and are amazed at what it can do! I will admit that I am only beginning to understand the vast capabilities myself. I am still learning. I hope I am always still learning.
Why would you want to use this? See what teachers and even administrators who have seen this program in action...and have seen the results have to say.
Even more information and selling strategies...this PowerPoint was created and published by Google. I was able to create a copy and it was copied to me immediately via my own Google account. It provides quite a bit of print background and information for you to look through.
How does it work? How do you begin working it? Let's begin with a tutorial video (it's really only 3 minutes and great for those visual learners). When introducing this concept to your classes...show them the video too! They will get excited about the possibilities.
Now you are sold, right? What do you do now? Well, thankfully for you (and me) Google even tells you how to begin and what steps you have to take. They have the whole process laid out for us. We just have to follow the simple instructions to get started! They have created a step-by-step guide.
Please use the questions under the discussion tab to offer suggestions, feedback and commentary on GoogleDocs and this In-Service Module. Your feedback will help make this useful to many others and will lead to improved technology integration in classrooms throughout the school, system, and possibly the country...the Internet is vast, you know!
